Billing and Insurance FAQ's

What if I receive a check from my insurance company?
If your insurance company issues a check to you for services rendered at Heartland and a balance remains on your account, please sign the back of the check and write “Pay to Heartland Women's Health Care” and mail along with a copy of your EOB to Heartland.

Where should I mail my payment?
Please mail the return portion of your statement along with your check to Heartland Women's Health Care, 2790 Clay Edwards Drive, Suite 530, North Kansas City, MO 64116. This will ensure your payment is credited in a timely manner. When writing “Paid in Full” on a check, make certain the account balance and the amount on the check are the same. If they do not correspond, there will be a delay in posting your payment or we may have to return the check to you and request a new check for the correct amount. When mailing a check please make certain that is is dated correctly, the written amount matches the dollar amount and that the check is made out to “Heartland Women's Health Care” and signed.

Why do I have to bring my insurance card with me to each visit?
So that we may accurately bill for each visit, you will be asked to show your insurance each visit. This verification will ensure the most accurate information is being submitted to the insurance company on your behalf.

Do I file my own secondary insurance claim?
No. We will file your claim to your primary carrier first. Once we receive an Explanation of Benefits from them, we will then submit this information to your secondary company so that they can process your claim and coordinate benefits.

How do I know if your office participates with my insurance plan?
Please refer to the Insurance Plans section of our website to view an up to date list of the plans we participate with. If you do not see your plan listed please contact our Billing Office for further information.

What does the number after my name on statements and correspondence from your office mean?

This number is the office designation for your primary physician at Heartland. It's use is strictly for record keeping purposes only.
